The Rottweiler is a robust working breed of great strength descended from the mastiffs of the Roman legions. His compact and substantial build denotes great strength, agility and endurance. Admitted to the AKC in 1931, the Rottweiler is basically a calm, confident and courageous dog with a self-assured aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships. A Rottweiler is self-confident and responds quietly with a wait-and-see attitude to influences in his environment. He has an inherent desire to protect home and family, and is an intelligent dog of extreme hardiness and adaptability with a strong willingness to work, making him especially suited as a companion, guardian and general all-purpose dog. A well-bred and properly raised Rottweiler will be calm and confident, courageous but not unduly aggressive, a gentle playmate and family protector. The aloof demeanor these world-class guardians present to outsiders belies the playfulness, silliness, and clownish behavior that forever endear Rotties to their loved ones.
We are Scot & Dorothy Duke and have loved and raised AKC Rottweilers for over thirty years. We are located in central Oregon, about a half hour south of Bend, OR. Our Rottweilers are our family. They live in our home, sleep in our room, and watch old movies on the couch with us. We breed for Health, Type & Temperament so our puppies are fit for show, work and family companions.
